VROM 2002 - visited by Konditori 100

The annual Volvo Rendezvous for Owners & Members (VROM) in 2002 was held in Gothenburg 9-11 August. Since this year is Volvos 75th anniversary, the meet was bigger than ever. A special exhibition was the "75 years - 75 cars" display.

Friday I attended one of the visit packs at Volvo: test driving new cars, visiting the large factory and then the safety center.
Volvos ready to be test driven.

Testing...

Outside the Torslanda truck factory.

In the evening a special arrangement was held.
Secrets behind 'volvo.com'

To commemorate the first Volvo car, a car of the first model ÖV4 was driven out the same place as the very first Volvo. A perfect opportunity to take a photo, many of us thought.

But, where did the camera set the focus??? Well, I took more photos...

A very nice idea for the celebration.

On Saturday a rally was held. Here's a few photos from the start and finish areas.

Among some 300 Volvos were an Audi, a BMW and a Mercedes. Well, I guess the drivers really longed to own old Volvos instead. I understand them.

Sundays big meet took place on a classic Volvo area.

Even the red truck with its large white covered trailer seems small compared with the crane... (The Volvo museum in Gothenburg is situated in the low red house.)

Lots of Volvos...

Also small ones.

And at least one other...
Have you ever seen this 'Volvo' van?
Probably not. It is owned by Jos Willemsen in the Netherlands. Almost all parts of this van are of the make Mazda. Nice idea.

Another interesting idea was the display "75 years - 75 cars".

Let's look more closely.

From this end: ÖV4 1927, PV4 1928, PV4 Special 1929, PV652 1932, TR671 1931, TR673 1932, PV654 1933

(Hey, look - there's my car!)

Photos of a number of the Volvos I saw at VROM 2002 are parked in Konditori 100s Garage, in the "Cars made in Sweden" area, together with other car photos.

But, I think this 75 years anniversary model shall be parked on this page. It's a V70 2,4T.
