Year and place: 1927-, Västerås/Stockholm
The electrical company ASEA had drawings for a prototype of an electric car ready in 1925, and started the company SEA*.
In 1927 they presented a 2,5 metric ton electric truck. It could carry 2.ooo kg and had a top speed of 25 km/h, and was reliable. One was in use until 1958.
The truck was produced 1927-30, in two models (short or shorter hood). The front, looking a bit like a standing coal shovel, gave the truck its nickname - 'Suggan' ('the sow').
Later In 1943 two truck models were built, for 700 and 850 kg load, and two vans, for 450 and 500 kg load. Some vans had two cabins, one at each end of the car. These could carry both cargo and passengers. (I sure would like to see one of those!) The first years the cars were built with flat metal sheets, but later they were more rounded. Performance was improved during the years. At most they could be driven 60-70 km per charge, and carry up to 2.200 kg. One source tells also about electric trucks that got power from electric wires, like trams, and that one such 'line' was in traffic between a mill and a railway station in Stockholm during 30 years. Production ceased at the end of the 40s. ASEA however were still in business, among others producing electric locomotives.
This truck is a SEA from 1943. It could carry 850 kg and do 30 km/h. * The company situation is not quite clear to me, since sources give different information. See also Elektromobil.

Around 1940 the new subsidiary SEL* began producing electric cars. A standard Volvo truck chassis was used as base. These trucks were sold under the name ASEA.
