Effyh - Cars made in Sweden, info from Konditori 100

Year and place: 1947-early 50s, Malmö

The brothers Folke and Yngve Håkansson worked as mechanics repairing forklift trucks in Malmö. Probably they spent some of their spare time visiting some of the then popular competitions with midget racing cars.

In early 1947 they finished their own midget racing car, which was built for the driver Åke Jönsson. It was named Effyh (after their initials FYH).

It was built with Auto-Unions pre-war racing cars as model, with priority on low centre of gravity, low weight and the best weight balance.

More of them
The car was successful, and the brothers started serial production.

JAP speedway engines was used with Norton or Burman gear boxes. The wheels were from Fiat, and most of the rest of their own construction.

A TT version of Effyh was also produced, and some of them were exported to South and North America. These Effyhs too made good results on the racing tracks.

In the early 50s the production stopped, with some 50 Effyhs delivered to pleased racing drivers. Some of the cars can still be seen on historic racing events.

Is this an Effyh? Number 17? If so, it's an Effyh-SRM from 1949.
