ERL - Cars made in Sweden, info from Konditori 100

Year and place: 1948, Göteborg

Compared to the majority of the swedish car makes, ERL was a large one. Nine ERL cars were built.

Car mechanic and competition driver Eskil Roland Lindström thought about building a car in the late 30s, but the war, making it near to impossible to find parts, forced him to wait.

In 1948 the first ERL was finished. An open 2-seated sports car of typical british design. Powered by a 30hp Douglas motorcycle engine, it was fast.

The following ERLs had 14,5hp DKW rebuilt stationary engines, but the light (520kg) cars had a top speed of about 100 km/h. Lindström also used other car and motorcycle parts.

Only one ERL remains today.
