Gordon - Cars made in Sweden, info from Konditori 100

Year and place: 1994 - , Lund

The first Gordon V8 Mk I was built by Gunnar and Peter Riddebäck in the classic style of brittish sports cars, like MGs and Triumphs from the 30s and 40s.

When the car was exhibited in one Frankfurt car show, Riddebäck got orders for a number of cars. The work continued preparing the production model, which is something else than constructing a single car.

When I talked with Gunnar Riddebäck recently, a number of Gordons had been delivered. The Gordon cars are built with components the buyers choose.

The first Gordon V8 Mk 1 has a Rover driveline, with a 3,9 litre V8. The frame is wholly constructed of stainless steel tubing, and stainless steel is also used among others in parts of the front suspension.

The body is made of composite material, with an aluminium bonnet. Classic leather is used for the upholstery, and solid mahogany for the dashboard.

Riddebäck, with experience as air plane technician and boat builder, gives three advices for you who think about buildning a car of your own make:

Besides the technical problems there is another large challenge for car builders in Sweden. In Sweden we have tough regulations for cars, and to get a new car cleared for use you have to go through a series of tests with accepted results. It concerns constructions, braking efficiency, and much more.

Riddebäck got through all problems, and the result is the very beautiful first Gordon you see on these photos.
