Volvo PV445 photos / Konditori 100

This page has photos of the PV445 (and P2101) chassis that were produced 1949-62, or rather: for photos of the cars that were built with them.

The story of the PV445 began with the introduction of the car PV444, which was built without a traditional frame. So, Volvo had no chassis to deliver to those who wanted to make their own bodies. Due to demand, the chassis PV445 was presented in september 1949.

In 1953 Volvo began selling the 445 with van and estate bodies, and the popular Duett was born. (See PV445,P210 Duett.) That led to a decreased demand for chassis. The last 445 chassis (nr 4025) was made in May 1960, and after that 169 chassis of the type P2101 ('the modified Duett') until May 1962 (nr 4194).

These chassis were often used for pickups, and vans until 1953, but there were also some cabriolets built on them. (Naturally they were produced in some versions, and my sources gives me slightly different info. According to one source Volvo made 4.030 chassis, which is quite close to the info I wrote above, and also made around 12.500 pickups. While another source tells that Volvo only made two pickup prototypes. What is correct?)

This 1953 pick-up has been repainted, and has partly a new platform, but the rest is original.

Another 445 pick-up, from 1955, with body from Grip. (The Duett in the middle is a 210A from 1960.)

A 445 made 1953 with a Valbo-body, in original.

445, with a Valbo body. Probably built in 1952, considering the embroided pillow in its back seat...
