Volvo F, N and G series - photos / Konditori 100

The first F and N series were presented in 1965 with F85, F86, F88, N84, N86 and N88. Then F84 came in 1968. The more powerful F89, G88 and G89 were presented in 1970. The modified F82S and F83S came in 1972, and the F85S in 1976. The last model in the series was presented in 1977, named CH230.

Well, actually the first F trucks were presented a bit earlier when the modified L4351 in the L43 Trygge series was named F83. And L4251 in the L42 Snabbe became F82.

When the last truck in these series was built in 1979, some 170.000 had been made.

Among the rather few elder Volvos visiting the Trailer Trucking Festival 2007 was this German 1977 F89, with CH230 on the side of the cab. One of the konditori100 guests, Stein from Norway, wrote me and told that this is an unusual truck. He hasn't seen any info about in books or other texts about Volvo trucks. From 1978 Volvo produced the F12 CH230, with a cab from the F7 model, that had a width of 230 centimeters. It was for the Swiss market, where that was the maximum width for vehicles.

Here with a 1978 Volvo F1220.
