In 1953 the T 55 hit the arable, the first tractor in the T5 series. It was also sold as BM 55. Volvo had bought Bolinder-Munktell, and this model was their mutual successor to BM 21 and Volvo T 43. (So I may have photos of it on my web pages about Bolinder-Munktell too...)

This was a powerful tractor for use on larger farms. It was powered by a 4-cylinder 4,5 litre diesel engine, with around 55 hp. In 1953-59 they produced 1.745 BM 55, 1.256 T 55 and 161 BMS 55.
