The swedish army needed to replace the jeeps they had bought after World War II, and Volvo presented a solution. In 1959 a test series of 91 L2304 was made. The production of 7.737 L3314 went on 1961-70, and of 1.116 L3315 1966-69. These models had the name Laplander, but was mostly nicknamed Valpen (the puppy).

I think this Volvo that helped the British jeep out of the water, is one of the original Laplanders.

The Laplander was later developed into among others L3304 and C202.
